What the 1x Sweeps Coin playthrough clause actually requires

9 sweepstakes casinos publish a playthrough clause on Sweeps Coins: 7 set it at a single pass, 1 sets it at three. Here is what that clause requires before a balance can be redeemed, brand by brand.

A playthrough clause is the one line in a sweepstakes casino's rulebook that decides whether a Sweeps Coin balance is spendable the moment it lands or has to be used in a game round first. It sits next to the redemption minimum and the identity checks, but it comes first in the sequence: a coin that has not been played through does not count toward the minimum at all.

We read the current rules or terms of nine sweepstakes casinos this month and found a playthrough clause in each. Seven print a single pass. One prints three. One describes the requirement without a fixed number.

What the clause actually says

The wording is close to identical across the VGW-style documents: a Sweeps Coin has to be “played once” in an eligible game before it is “eligible to be redeemed for prizes.” That single sentence does three things at once. It excludes coins sitting untouched in a balance. It excludes coins the moment they are credited, whether from a purchase bonus, a daily login or a mail-in request. And it hands the operator room to raise the number later, because every version we read pairs the one-time rule with a right to require more.

LuckyLand Slots' Sweeps Rules, version 31.0 of 13 July 2026, put it plainly: coins are “required to be played once before they are eligible to be redeemed for prizes,” with the same clause allowing “a greater number of times (not exceeding 20).” Legendz's terms, read from a 2024 capture, use nearly the same sentence with the same ceiling. Neither document says what would trigger the higher number.

Drawing: a dark purple clipboard with a spring clip holding one plain sheet

A drawing, not a screenshot, and the sheet under the clip is blank on purpose: this is the site's mark and it carries no findings of its own. The closure dates, the state rules and the numbers behind them are in the text, each with the day we read it.

Brands at a single pass

Four of the documents we read set the requirement at once, full stop, with no example of the operator using its right to raise it. RealPrize's Promotional Play Rules, version 2.8, state that coins “must be played at least once on the Sweep Coins Mode Contests before Sweep Prizes can be obtained.” Hello Millions and Spree carry almost the same sentence: Sweeps Coins or Spree Coins “must first be played through in an applicable Sweepstakes Game at least once” before they count toward the redemption minimum. Funrize's older Award Rules, in force through mid-2025, used the identical phrasing for its Promotional Entries.

Fortune Wins is the one brand in this group that shows its working. Its Sweepstakes Rules, version 4.7, reserve the right to place a playthrough requirement on any FC credited to a participant, and the worked example printed in the same document uses two times rather than one — the only brand in our reading where a multiplier above 1x appears in the operator's own text rather than as an abstract ceiling.

High 5's playthrough, plus a narrower gate on the source

High 5 Casino sets the same one-time playthrough as most of the brands above, but its rules layer another restriction on top. Its Sweepstakes Official Rules, version 43.0, state that Sweeps Coins “must be used at least once in a Sweeps Coins game before they shall be considered eligible toward a Prize redemption request,” under clause 7.7 — the same single-pass rule as RealPrize, Hello Millions, Spree and Funrize, with no ceiling stated if the operator wanted to raise it. A separate clause, 7.4, goes further: it limits redemption eligibility to “Sweeps Coins that have been won through game play (rather than collected using one of the methods described in Section 6 above).” Read together, the two clauses mean a coin from a purchase bonus or a mail-in request has to clear the same one-time playthrough as any other coin, and even then clause 7.4 may keep it out of a redemption request if it was never won in a spin — a source filter stacked on top of the playthrough count, not a replacement for it.

The one brand at three times

Stake.us stands apart. Its Terms and Conditions, version 18.0 of 10 July 2026, state that “all Customers are required to play their Stake Cash three (3) times before it is eligible to be redeemed for Prizes,” with one exception carved out for Stake Cash won directly through play. That is triple the rate the VGW-style brands print, and it is the highest fixed multiplier in the set we read.

Where the rules say nothing

Two of the documents we could open do not print a playthrough figure at all. Pulsz's Terms of Use, version 5.2, cover redemption thresholds and a ninety-day processing window but never state a playthrough multiplier for its Virtual Coins. McLuck's Terms of Service, version 2.4, cover Gold Coins only; its Sweepstakes Rules page, where a Sweeps Coin clause would sit, returned a 403 error or an empty script shell on every capture we tried.

What it means before you redeem

A playthrough clause does not delay a redemption on its own; a coin that has already been used in a game round clears it the moment it is credited. What it actually catches is the coin that has not been touched: a mail-in credit sitting in the balance, a daily bonus claimed and left alone, a purchase bonus never spun through. On every document we read, a coin like that will not count toward the redemption minimum, no matter how large the balance looks in the account summary.

The practical check is the same three questions. First, does the balance include coins from a source the operator treats differently — High 5's rules are the clearest case, since a coin from its own mail-in method may never qualify no matter how it is used afterward. Second, has every coin been used in at least one round, given that most of the brands above set that bar at once. Third, for Stake.us specifically, has each coin cleared three rounds rather than one.

None of this is a claim about how fast a redemption pays out once the coins qualify — that is a separate clause, worked through with minimums and methods on gift card or bank redemption. The figures here describe only the gate before that: what has to happen to a Sweeps Coin before it is eligible to be counted at all.

For a fuller run-through of the coin model itself, including expiry and what each brand gives away free, see Sweeps Coins explained. What counts as a cash payout once playthrough clears is on do sweepstakes casinos pay real money, and processing speed by method is on fastest redemptions. For the wider comparison, start from sweepstakes alternatives.

What does a Sweeps Coin playthrough clause require?
It requires a Sweeps Coin to be used in at least one paid or promotional game round before it counts toward a redemption. Most of the documents we read set that at once; Stake.us sets it at three times.
Can an operator raise the multiplier above what is printed?
LuckyLand Slots and Legendz both print a base rate of once, with a clause allowing the operator to require more, capped at twenty times in both documents. Neither states how or when that cap would be applied.
Do Sweeps Coins from a mail-in request need to be played through too?
Where the rules address it, yes. LuckyLand Slots ties the playthrough clause to Sweeps Coins allocated to a participant generally, not only to coins won in play, so a mail-in credit is covered by the same clause.
Which brands do not state a playthrough multiplier at all?
Pulsz and McLuck do not print one in the documents we could open.
